Priced under $200, the Watts up? PRO ES power meter plugs into a wall socket and monitors the power usage of any appliance plugged into it, logging up to 8,000 all-parameter data sets or 120,000 power-only readings. The meter measures, records, and displays up to 19 power-related parameters, including frequency, voltage, current, watts, volt-amps, power factor, power cycle, and dollar cost of energy used.
Both the logging interval and the parameters logged are user selectable, as is the recording mode: stop-when-full or continue-by-overwriting. Through its USB port, the instrument can download recorded data to a PC.
PC software is included for downloading, graphing, and tabulating data, and for calculating the time it takes a more energy efficient appliance to pay for itself. Optional software lets users log data on the PC in real time.
Accurate to within ±1.5%, the meter is UL listed for recording at 120 V/60 Hz, 15 A. With country-specific cord sets and receptacles, it can also record to 227 V at 50 Hz and 20 A. (Meter, $195.95; optional software, $72.95�available now.)
